Swimming lessons for every stage
From first splashes with a parent or carer through to confident, advanced swimming, there is a Little Fishes lesson to suit where your child is right now.
Parent & Child
Babies and young children swimming with a parent or carer
Little Fishes Parent & Child lessons are for babies and young children swimming with a parent or carer. Lessons focus on early water confidence, enjoying the water together, introducing basic swimming skills through age-appropriate activities, and building familiarity with the pool environment.
Pre-School Swimming
Younger children swimming without a parent or carer in the water
Pre-School Swimming is for younger children who are ready to swim in a lesson without their parent or carer in the water. Lessons focus on growing independence, confidence away from a parent in the water, developing core swimming skills, and fun, supportive teaching.
Learn to Swim
Our core learn-to-swim lessons for school-age children
Learn to Swim is our core lesson type for school-age children and other children progressing through swimming skills and stages. Lessons focus on confidence, technique and water skills, with progression at your child's own level and appropriate challenge as they improve.
Advanced Swimming
For stronger swimmers developing beyond learn-to-swim
Advanced Swimming is for stronger swimmers who want to continue developing without necessarily committing to a competitive swimming club. Sessions focus on stamina, technique, stroke development, fitness and continued progression.
Private Lessons
1-to-1 and 2-to-1 coaching, subject to availability
Private coaching may be available as 1-to-1 or 2-to-1 lessons, subject to pool space, teacher availability and suitability. Private lessons offer more individual attention and can focus on specific skills or confidence goals, which may be useful for children who would benefit from focused support or development.

You do not need to know the perfect level yourself. Tell us your child's age, how they are in the water and when you can swim, and we will help narrow down the classes that could suit them.

Celebrating every step forward
Progress is not just about reaching the next stage. Confidence, skills, distance and independence all matter, and every step forward is worth celebrating.
Little Fishes Fish Skills
Our Fish Skills awards form part of the Little Fishes journey for younger swimmers, recognising developing confidence and skills in the water.
Bronze Fish Skills
The first Fish Skills step for our younger swimmers.
Silver Fish Skills
Building on growing confidence in the water.
Gold Fish Skills
Recognising further developing skills and confidence.
Learn to Swim awards
As swimmers develop, their progress can also be recognised through the appropriate learn-to-swim awards for their stage.
These stages help children develop their swimming skills progressively, at a pace that suits them. Stages 1–7.
Distance & challenge awards
Progress isn't only about the next stage. Increasing distance, stamina, developing technique, more advanced skills and personal achievement can all be recognised too.
